the AFRCN man: a debut album

On the 25th of May 2022 (Africa Day), YPG Jones released his debut album the AFRCN man. According to the artist, the album simultaneously takes listeners on a journey through the evolution of African music and a journey of his own evolution as an artist.

It contains 9 tracks that range from traditional African drum beats, reggae, dancehall, afrobeats to modern club banging hip-hop. Collaborations with other artists was done carefully to ensure that they each brought a piece of their talent to complement the sound and message that YPG was trying to convey. Artists such as Roberto Chitsondzo, Rhodalia Silvestre, Muzila, Ckarina Miller, Edvan Allen, Sir TCee, Regina Dos Santos, Queentanisha, Mbudzi Chi Moio and Delafrezno all graced the album with their participations and helped make it a gem of African music.

Although most of the production work was done by Mbudzi Chi Moio at Cypher Studios, other notable productions on the album came from Onel, Maluke Cefa, Islamic and Lydasse GMT.

The album serves to cement YPG Jones as an African Musician as his lyrical versatility allows him to comfortably rap, sing reggae and toast on dancehall beats. You can listen to snippets of the songs on the Music section of this website or follow the link:
